2011年1月3日 · It's cruel, shortens their life span, is unecessary, and as has been stated (and is the best reply for this): If you wanted a terrestrial salamander, you should have gotten one. The best way to change your axolotl into a land salamander is to rehome it with someone who appreciates it for what it is, and then getting a terrestrial salamander.

Alternatively, it may be that your axolotl isn't really morphing but looks different due to poor husbandry, water conditions etc in the past. Reference this thread. Morphed axolotls can be treated essentially like tiger salamanders, which means you'll need to move it to a terrestrial setup.

Despite this advice my artificially morphed axolotl prefers sitting in a shallow pond totally choked with elodea rather than use the nice soft burrowing material in the box.

I understand the hybridisation was by nuclear transfer, not merely sticking two animals together in a bowl so the process was not an easy one.
